Daily Programming
Daily programing provides meaningful activities appropriate to the Residents' cognitive, physical, and social abilities on a regular basis, to inhance their quality of life.
Activities are provided at appropriate times, morning, afternoon, evenings and weekends.
Daily activities are provided in various areas such as to stimulate the cardiovascular system such as exercise, movement to music etc, intellectually challenging. Such activities include discussion of current events, writters club, book reading and reminiscing. Our programs promote cognitive, physical, and emotional health. With the addition of our Wii, Residents participate in contests and activities which improve range of motion, eye hand coordination, and are fun to play. We also schedule creative and expressive programs.
Some activites are designated specifically for the confused or disoriented on a regular basis. Small group , large group or one on one are provided according to the need of the resident population at the specific time. Residents are encouraged to structure their own leisure time as they desire. We have a common computor for our Residents so they can play games, write letters, send e mail or surf the internet.
We hold outdoor activities on a regular basis when weather permits. We invite community groups in to participate with our residents also. Such groups might include the childrent from the school, Red Hat ladies from surrounding communities, or Prayer shawl ministry or church groups. Take a look at just some of the fun we share at Maryhill by scrolling down.
For our ladies, and some of our staff, Red Hatting has become a wonderful opportunity to share times of fun and silliness together. We have our own Chapter of Red Hatters, the Red Hat Hotties of Niagara, which meets monthly. Members of the community are always welcome to join us for the afternoon. For more information please contact Melissa Jacobs at 715-251-3172 or e mail her at dtachick@maryhillmanor.org.
Volunteers of all ages are welcome to join us to share their special gifts whether to visit with persons, help with programming, or even to teach our Residents a new craft or skill. If you are interested in sharing a bit of your time please contact Danielle Tachick, our Activities Director at 715-251-3172 or e mail her at dtachick@maryhillmanor.org.

Special Events (see photo album below)
Special holidays and thematic programs add a great deal to the Residents' quality of life. The Residents seem to remember the big events for a longer period of time, in contrast to the daily programs. Special events promote a time to reminisce with their peers, Care Partners, and their families about the special times they had at home while growing up or as adults raising their children, creating a bit of nostalgia and adding meaning to the lives of the residents.
Special events gives the residents an opportunity to be creative as they help plan and decorate for each event. It gives our residents a time to share with various community groups such as musical groups, religious groups, ladies groups etc. Special events can also be a great time for our residents to entertain their family who visit.
Special events at Maryhill range from holidays, special weeks such as Nursing Home Week to Special monthly celebrations such as National Cherry month or a special day such as Grandparents day. To see the many Special Events at Maryhill, please scroll down and enjoy the photo albums.

Tigger The Cat.
Tiger is one of the newest residents at Maryhill of Niagara. Richard (Tigers owner) was admitted to Maryhill at the end of May for Rehab. After a short period of time Richard decided he would be unable to manage at home and decided he would need the care of an Assisted Living or a Nursing home. One of his main concerns in making this decision was “who would care for his cat Tiger”. After some discussion with the staff at Maryhill is was decided to bring Tiger into the facility as and make Maryhill the home for both Richard and Tiger. Tiger has now been at Maryhill for 2 weeks and Richard and he are both adjusting fabulously. Tiger hid under the bed for the 1st few days but is now sitting on the bed and has even ventured into the hall. Richards roommate (Michael) was thrilled to have the little (or should I say BIG) roommate since he also has cats at home and was missing them. When Richard is not in his room Tiger spends his time keeping Michael Company. Tiger is an example of the Resident Centered Care delivery system here at Maryhill.
