A graduate of Iron Mountain High School, Jana returned to our community from Appleton, Wisconsin to become the President and CEO of Maryhill, and leader of our quality care team in 1999. Jana has been in long term care for over 30 years, having worked as an aide, LPN, RN, director of nursing, and District Director of Clinical Operations prior to becoming a nursing home administrator and taking on the operational responsibilities for the facility for major long term care providers and Maryhill. She has three children, all grown and living away from the area and two delightful grandsons. She enjoys classical music, needlework, travel, football, and the outdoors.

A native of Iron Mountain, Carol has been a Registered Nurse for 15 years, most of which have been in long term care. She spent 2 years working for hospice in Arizona. Joining the Maryhill Team in 2002 as our Medicare Coordinator, Carol became our Director of Nursing Services in January of 2004. With her leadership and clinical expertise, our nursing department continues to grow, resulting in Maryhill’s clinically deficiency free survey in 2005 and in 2008. Carol resides in Commonwealth, Wisconsin with her husband and twin children. She enjoys time with her family, music, movies, and travel.

Melissa Jacobs

Melissa joined the Team at Maryhill in 2005, becoming the Activities Director in 2007. She has her baccalaureate degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Lake Superior State University, Certified as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. Melissa develops and directs individualized programming which ensures that our Residents enjoy those leisure activities they like as well as therapeutic programming to promote healing and well-being. She has been in Long Term Care for 9 1/2 years, enjoying every moment spent with the Residents, building relationships, and learning the histories of those we care for. Melissa lives in Aurora with her husband and three active children. She enjoys camping, skiing, gardening, and coaching soccer.

Bob Sauld

A Niagara native, Bob started his professional career as a special education/elementary education teacher in the early 80's. After leaving the teaching profession he entered the food service industry working in a number of the fine establishments around the country and locally, Bob went into Elder Nutrition 15 years ago. He joined Maryhill’s team as the Dietary Services Manager in 1997. Working with both the elderly and youth has always been a privilege to Bob. “The elderly have so much knowledge and experience to share and the youth crave the knowledge and experience I can share.” Bob continues to live in Niagara and spends his time volunteering in the community, house refurbishing, and landscaping and gardening.

Cari has been employed as a Registered Nurse at Maryhill since July 1995 and as the Day Clinical Supervisor since March of 2004. While at Maryhill, she has had the opportunity to become certified as a CNA class instructor and Dementia Care Specialist. Cari graduated from Norway High School in 1990 and attended Northern Michigan University from 1990-1994, where she received her BSN degree in Nursing. She currently lives in Norway with her husband, Dave, and two children, Brooke and Brandon.

Heath joined the Maryhill Team in 1998. He holds an Associate Degree in Physical Therapy, and has fourteen years of experience in the care of geriatrics. Heath says that, “After working in a neurological clinic for a year, I found my niche in working with the geriatric population. The time spent with each patient, and the wisdom they share is an enjoyable part of each day.” Heath enjoys his Church, time with his beautiful wife and two energetic boys, his work here at Maryhill, and being outdoors.

Cindy is originally from Norway, MI and has her baccalaureate degree in Social Work from Northern Michigan University. She came to our Team in October 2006, brining with her a strong passion for resident advocacy and a focus toward Resident directed decision-making. Cindy assists Residents and ther families through the many choices and decisions they need to make when coming for short term rehabilitation or long term care, and as a member of our Team provides Medical Social Services to our Residents and their families. As Discharge Planner, Residents and their families can rely on Cindy to provide them with assistance with decision-making for their return to the community. Cindy lives in Iron Mountain with her husband Graham, their daughter Delany, and their two dogs. She enjoys scrapbooking, kayaking, and her family

Melody Schaut

Melody started working at Maryhill in 1988 as a CNA, taking on the role of Laundry and Housekeeping Supervisor in 1999-2000. She oversees the cleanliness of our building and ensures that residents' clothing and linens are well cared for and maintained. Her team takes pride in keeping Maryhill clean and odor-free, and the linens in good condition. Melody is also involved with many of the work groups in our facility, participating with Quality Improvement, Safety and our Marketing Team, enjoying her work very much. As Melody states, "The people who live here are wonderful and I find that I learn so much from each of them every day." Born in Virginia in a naval hospital, Melody moved around quite a bit in her youth, living in Texas, Louisiana, Colorado, Wisconsin, and now resides in Niagara. She has a wonderful son, Robert.

Carrie joined the Team at Maryhill in 1995, becoming the Business Office Manager in 1998. She has completed accounting coursework through NWTC as well as Bay College, and is responsible for oversight of the Office and Financial Operations, providing the Board of Directors and other parties with monthly financial reports. She also is Maryhill’s Human Resource Coordinator, and assists our residents and their families through the Medicaid and Medicare processes. As a member of our Leadership Team Carrie is involved with our Quality Improvement team and our Medicare Team. Carrie lives in Niagara with her husband, Barry, and two sons.

Nancy Reese

Nancy came to Maryhill in December of 2001 as our Pastoral Care Director. Although her background is accounting, in which she worked for many years, her passion has been to provide emotional and spiritual support to others. In 2000 Nancy returned to school through the Diocese of Marquette to become a Lay Minister. She was commissioned by the Bishop in May of 2002. In 2007, Nancy completed coursework in Stress Management for Care Givers, and provides support to both residents and their families and staff. Nancy and her husband, Steve, have been empty nesters for the past five years and make frequent trips to the Minneapolis area to see their son, daughter-in-law, and their daughter and her husband. Nancy has one beautiful granddaughter. When they aren't traveling on their motorcycles, Nancy and her husband enjoy kayaking in their spare time.

Randy joined the Maryhill team in October 2009, bringing 30+ years of managerial experience in the manufacturing industry. He is responsible for Building and Grounds Operations and Maintenance, and facilitates Safety Education and Implementation. Randy resides in Kingsford with his wife Jody, and has two grown daughters, Karissa of Kingsford, Shannon and her husband Todd of Breitung Township and has two fantastic grandchildren, Avery and Riley. He enjoys motorcycles, boating, church activities, outdoor sports, and, most of all, spending time with his family.

Debbie is originally from the Bark River-Schaffer area, moving to Norway 10 years ago. A graduate of Kiaserslautern American High School, she received an associates degree in Human Services from Bay De Noc Community College, and held the position of Activites Director for 20 years at Maryhill and other locations. She has been in Long Term Care for over 30 years, beginning her career as a CNA. Debbie lives with her husband, Roger, and is the mother of 4 children, 3 step children and 9 grandchildren. She enjoys crocheting, country music, berry picking, trip planning, and collecting porcelain birds
